Colbert Gets Contract Extension
07/29/2010
As expected, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Wednesday that they have signed their director of football operations, Kevin Colbert, to a contract extension.
The announcment about a five-year extension for Colbert came two days before the Steelers are scheduled to open their training camp at St. Vincent College in Latrobe on Friday.
The Steelers last week announced they had signed coach Mike Tomlin to a contract extension through the 2012 season, although word about that deal had leaked out much earlier in the month.
Colbert has had the job since 2000. and the Steelers have won two Super Bowl titles since then. Coming off a disappointing 9-7 season last year that followed the second of those Super Bowl wins and the sixth in Steelers history, Pittsburgh prepares now for their regular season opener September 12th against Atlanta at Heinz Field. The Steelers' first exhibition game is scheduled for August 14th.
